Krista Lawrence
•Krista has always been connected to the earth. Growing up in a large nursery, her childhood was filled with the sounds of rustling leaves and the rich scent of soil. She learned conventional practices, using nitrogen, herbicides, and insecticides to nurture the plants. In 1990, her perspective changed when she began studying horticulture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She explored the complexities of soil science and learned about the resilience of native plants, advocating for a harmonious relationship with nature through biological controls. This knowledge guided her back into the nursery business in Southern California, where she focused on drought-resistant and native species. In 2001, she moved to Washington, where she embraced the role of landscape designer, adapting to the unique challenges of the region. A pivotal moment came in 2011 when she joined Cascade Minerals, promoting a basalt mineral powder that could revitalize depleted soils. Although the project ended, it planted a lasting interest in sustainable practices. From 2017 to 2019, she completed a BS in Environmental Science, focusing on ways to create a healthier world. Her studies affirmed the benefits of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), which improves soil health and helps sequester CO2. Her journey has shown her that our food system needs transformation. We must restore balance to the earth and eliminate reliance on synthetic chemicals by nourishing our soils with minerals and create a healthy soil ecosystem. She believes mineralization and soil ecosystem understanding is the key to a secure food system and a healthier population. My passion lies in improving our world through healthy farm soil.

Dan Dunn
Growing up in Alaska, my love for nature and interest in stones began at a young age. That same curiosity and excitement motivated me to start my own business. In 2003, I moved to Oregon, and Alpine Boulder Company was born. Due to the demand of a young family and building a business from scratch, I learned a lot on the fly, always listening and learning. With a little John Deere 240 skid steer and a computer, I started selling granite boulders from private land. Now seventeen years later, I am mining all kinds of stones and shipping them worldwide.
I love working and being out in nature and am passionate about boulder mining. I often think of those that will never get to experience this. That inspires me to find the best of what nature has to offer for others to enjoy. My passion lies in helping others find that connection.
What still drives me after being in this business for 20 years? The feeling I get when I am connected with these never-ending creations of nature. Finding a new waterfall or taking a new trail into the unknown. That childlike curiosity and fascination with treasures from the earth capture us all. After 20 years, it still feels like when I was a kid.
